I didn’t think I’d miss the rain.
I haven’t left yet and already I hold tighter that chill in my bones.
The one that comes when the breeze blows a dampness across your cheek.
Soft crunches of crisp autumn leaves as boots hit the pavement below them.
The inevitable fall.
Those teardrops stains across the window panes that race to the bottom.
The way your heart raced that night.
Thunder crashed outside soaking the earth tears soaked your cheeks….
He told you he loved someone else.
I can’t forget the long nights and late mornings listening to the earth cry her way to another day.
You can be addicted to sadness they told me.
No, I reply. I just didn’t think I’d miss the rain.
